Counselling is a talking therapy where you meet with a trained therapist in a confidential, non-judgmental space to explore whatever is on your mind — whether that's a specific difficulty, a life transition, or a general sense that something isn't quite right. Counselling offers an oppurtunity to be properly listened to, and start making sense of your thoughts and feelings at your own pace.
-
People come to therapy for all sorts of reasons. Some common ones include:
Anxiety and stress
Low mood or depression
Relationship difficulties
Bereavement and loss
Life transitions (career changes, becoming a parent, retirement)
Low self-esteem or confidence
Past trauma
Feeling stuck, unsure, or generally overwhelmed
These are all issues I’ve worked with in the past, but often people don’t have a clear reason why they want to start therapy, just a general sense that something needs to shift.

The first session is a chance for us to meet, for you to talk about what's brought you to therapy, and for us to see whether working together feels like a good fit. I'll also explain how I work and answer any questions you have.
-
Each session lasts 50 minutes. Once we decide to work together, we will agree on a day and time that works for us to meet. I will then block out this time for you, and we will meet weekly on the same day and time each week.
-
This varies from person to person. If you're working through a specific issue, short-term therapy might be enough. For others, it's the depth of relationship built through longer, open-ended work that creates real change. There's no fixed number and we'll review this together as we go.
-
The initial assessment costs £70. After that, my fee is on a sliding scale between £70–£90, depending on means.

Yes. Confidentiality is central to to the therapy relationship. What you share stays between us, with a small number of legal exceptions (for example, if I believe there's a risk of serious harm to you or someone else). I'll talk through exactly what this means for you in our first session.
